This is the best overall site for US History. Look for resources, teaching ideas, links, syllabi, and student projects.

American Antiquarian Society

This site covers topics for teaching early US history and includes essays, documents, teaching ideas, and a message board. The site is updated monthly and you can register for an email update.

National Council for History Education

This site includes resources and teaching tips recommended and collected by the organization of K-college history teachers.

National Center for History in the Schools

This site includes history units as well as detailed skill and chronological standards in both US and World History. The online bookstore sells excellent units for educators of grades 5-12.

National Endowment for the Humanities

This site is a competition of federal resources for teaching history.

VA Center for Digital History - U. of VA

This pioneering site encased an archive of documents related to the Civil war. It is also exemplary as a constructivist teaching tool, as it is designed for teachers and students to bring their own questions.

Library of Congress

This digital collection changes weekly. It is especially noteworthy for its inclusion of music, recordings, maps, and photographic resources.

National Archives

This site includes resources for teaching students about primary sources.
