In this talk, Dr. Carter Andrews will describe the concept of damage-centered teaching and its role in countering projects of humanization in teacher education. She draws upon existing research to propose core tenets of a humanizing pedagogy for teacher education – rooted in radical love and critical consciousness – and underscores how projects of humanization are necessary in teacher education and educational research to meet the needs of our most marginalized youth and communities.
