The School of Education is committed to help our students meet the cost of attending Stanford. Doctoral students receive full support in the first four years of their doctoral study through fellowships and research/teaching assistantships, which provides for a living stipend/salary and free tuition. See the doctoral programs section of this site for more information.

Many students in the master's programs receive tuition fellowships that range from $3,000 across programs to $20,000 in STEP. Many are also eligible for community-work study support through their work in off-campus non-profit organizations and entities.

In addition, two new funding opportunities are available to master’s students at SUSE:

  • The Bei Shan Tang Foundation new scholarship fund to master’s students from Hong Kong at SUSE, which awards up to $25,000.
  • The Woodrow Wilson Foundation’s Leonore Annenberg Teaching Fellowship for students in the Stanford Teacher Education Program, which awards up to $30,000.
See the master's programs section of this site for more information. Click here for financial aid information for admitted students in STEP.

STEP teacher candidates may be eligible for several federal and state loan forgiveness programs in addition to several new programs, such as the Dorothy Durfee Avery Loan Forgiveness Program which when combined for teachers in specific subject areas, may offset the full cost of attending STEP.

See the Financial Aid Office for information regarding your aid, such as the cost of attendance and applying for loans. STEP Students: apply for financial aid here!
