Her first position was as the Director of Operations for Youth and Family Assistance (YFA), a community-based organization serving youth and families in high-risk situations in San Mateo County.

AM ’96

After a year and a half on the Senior Management Team, she was promoted to Executive Director in 1998. Her work at YFA introduced her to the Gardner Center. The vision of the Gardner Center epitomizes Cheryl’s idea of an ideal job: one in which she can work with communities to help them more effectively support youth in making a successful transition into adulthood.
