It has been a long held belief of mine that a good education system is imperative to the success of our country, or indeed, any democracy. Effective schools are critical for young people to become contributing participants in our society and to succeed as individuals. We cannot be daunted by the challenges of fixing our nation’s education system; the stakes are too high. I believe we must act now to create quality education for all.
As a concerned citizen committed to improving education, I am proud that my alma mater is one of the leading institutions seeking solutions and creating positive change. While serving on the Stanford School of Education’s Advisory Council, I have become familiar with the aspirations and achievements of the school--I know of no better place to invest for those who want to create better schools and communities.
The Stanford Challenge offers many opportunities to contribute to a better future for our children and our children’s children. Whether you are interested in establishing student fellowships to make Stanford degrees more affordable, as my husband and I did, or giving to the school’s charter schools, policy work, or teacher education program, you will be making a difference. Please join with me in supporting work that is so critical to our nation’s future.
