Calling all GSE first-gen students, staff, faculty, and allies:
Resilient 1st Gen (R1G)* invites you to join us for our first Community Meeting and Dinner Discussion on Tuesday, December 4 @ 6:30PM. Mark your calendars and RSVP by this Thursday, November 29 @ 12PM to help us get an accurate headcount for food order.
At each Dinner Discussion, we will feature a scholarly article that focuses on the developmental perspectives of first-gen students, the structures of higher education institutions and inclusive policies they can implement. For our meeting this quarter, we want to highlight an article published in 2012: “Unseen Disadvantage: How American universities' focus on Independence Undermines the Academic Performance of First-generation College Students.” We will also make space for community members to share any research ideas, projects, and opportunities relevant to the first-gen student experience. We hope to see you there!
This event is generously sponsored by the GSE Students’ Collaborative Learning Fund.
