Critical Approaches to Teacher Education: Book Club #1

Critical Approaches to Teacher Education: Book Club #1

Wednesday, January 26, 2022
12:45pm
On zoom

This is the first meeting of a new student-led group focusing on critical teacher education. The group, made possible through the Collaborative Learning Fund, will provide a space for graduate students to explore critical approaches to preservice teacher education that center intersectional justice, racial literacy, and abolitionist pedagogies. Through a book club and speaker series, participants will engage in conversations to develop an understanding of critical approaches to teacher education in terms of pedagogy and program design; reflect on ways of implementing these approaches in our own practice; and build community with each other and critical teacher education scholars in and beyond Stanford. In this first session on zoom, we will discuss the article "Transforming our mission: Animating teacher education through intersectional justice" (Annamma & Winn, 2019). Please come prepared to discuss the article and to share a line from it that was meaningful to you.
