In response to a current lack of programs and pathways to support collaborative education research, this meeting will inform a recently launched multi-organizational effort to build formal training opportunities as a means to broaden participation in this type of research. While some evidence suggests that educational research conducted in collaboration with educators, families, and communities is more useful, impactful, and can ultimately support equitable outcomes for children, we know less about the learning that researchers, practitioners, and community members need to engage in to support such collaborative work, with few formal training opportunities in existence.

In this second meeting co-hosted by CU Boulder School of Education and Stanford University Graduate School of Education, we will share more about this effort and the initial work that has taken place. We will kick off the discussion by summarizing what we learned from the July 22, 2022 conversation, providing an analysis of themes and open questions from our attendees. We will have smaller group discussions to expand on this analysis and to build and expand on the existing ideas the participants have developed so far. This will be our second conversation of three; as such, we will invite participants to indicate what role (if any) they would like to have in this work moving forward.
