Emiliana Vegas: COVID-19, School Closures, and Inequality

Please join us for a discussion with Dr. Emiliana Vegas, Senior Fellow and Co-Director of the Center for Universal Education (CUE) at the Brookings Institution. CUE is a leading policy center focused on universal quality education in the developing world. Prior to joining Brookings, Emiliana was Chief of the Education Division at the Inter-American Development Bank. Her papers and books cover topics ranging from teacher effectiveness to school finance and early childhood education.

Emiliana will discuss her recent work on how governments are responding COVID-19 school closures and the potential impact on inequality.

The conversation will be hosted by Dr. Christopher Thomas, PhD '96, GSE Social Entrepreneur in Residence, and Professor Christine Min Wotipka, AM '99, PhD '01, ICE/IEPA MA Program Director.
