Join GSE Professor Woody Powell and Associate Professor Patricia Bromley in a wide-ranging discussion about the third edition of The Nonprofit Sector: A Research Handbook, just published by Stanford University Press.

The Nonprofit Sector brings together leading researchers—economists, historians, philosophers, political scientists, and sociologists along with scholars from communication, education, law, management, and policy schools—to offer a cutting-edge assessment of the state of the nonprofit field. The book addresses many issues of interest to education leaders and researchers, including the role of philanthropy in shaping education policy, the challenges of balancing mission with financial pressures and the many factors that have reshaped the boundaries of educational institutions.

As editors of the textbook, Powell and Bromley will lead a conversation with three distinguished contributing authors:

-Irene Bloemraad, Professor of Sociology and the Thomas Garden Barnes Chair of Canadian Studies, UC Berkeley
-Jill Horwitz, Vice Dean for Faculty and Intellectual Life and Professor of Law, UCLA School of Law
-Edward Walker, Professor, Vice Chair, and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Sociology, UCLA
