Dr. Espinoza and Senior Research Associate, Frida Silva, will tell how the Right2Learn Dignity Lab came to be formed and how he and his undergraduates created a “dignity handbook.” The group’s current efforts to amend the “education clause” of the Colorado constitution will be discussed in detail.

Dr. Manuel Luis Espinoza is a child of desegregation (Keyes v. Denver School District No. 1, 1973) and a Chicano ethnographer of education. With his Right2Learn Dignity Lab, he has developed an empirical method for studying the social interactional manifestations of dignity in educational activity.

Frida Silva is a proud first-generation college graduate. Now in her fifth year with the R2L Dignity Lab, Frida is a Senior Research Associate specializing in writing and developing the group’s digital presence.

With immense gratitude, the Right2Learn Dignity Lab acknowledges the contributions of Remi Kalir, Ph.D, and Francisco Perez, M.A.. Their generous guidance with Hypothesis (web-based annotation) and CROWDLAAERS (learning analytics software) has allowed our thinking on dignity and education to evolve and flourish.
