Amanda Peel, Research Assistant Professor, Northwestern University

The presentation will focus on research that uses unplugged, or computer-free, computational thinking to support high school students’ natural selection learning. Implications for science education and future research connecting unplugged computational thinking with computational modeling will be discussed.

Bio:

Amanda (Mandy) Peel is a Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University for the CT-STEM project. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Science Education Emphasis from the University of Missouri. Her research interests focus on integrating computational thinking and science content. She also studies socio-scientific issues and how they can be leveraged for meaningful learning through science and engineering practices, such as computational thinking and modeling.
