A recent study by Stanford University researchers about English Language Learners is simply illuminating.
It behooves Salinas-area educators, parents and stakeholders in the public schools to check it out. Why? Because it focuses on six schools that are raising not only the language skills of English Learners but their ability to thrive at the college and career levels.
“In our observations, we saw students engaged in a rigorous program of study designed to develop proficiency in English while cultivating grade-level content knowledge development,” writes one of the researchers in the report — “Schools to Learn From: How Six High Schools Graduate English Language Learners College and Career Ready.”
