From 2010 to 2015, over 320,000 US troops suffered from traumatic brain injury (TBI), which results in declines in cognitive, behavioral and affective functioning and may be intertwined with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Comrade Companion is a semi-anonymous, gamified platform that allows collaboration amongst military veterans with mild TBI and PTSD to share personal experiences in a peer-to-peer mentorship model. The goal is to address socio-emotional challenges that these military veterans may encounter, to create a supportive community amongst them, and to simultaneously build their personal socio-emotional confidence.
