Cuéntame Mas: A pocket coach for meaningful parent-child interaction

Project by

Project Year
2013
Cuéntame Mas is a project designed to foster family interaction through the shared creation of stories, and aimed specifically at Latino families. Parents are shown objects that serve as topics for conversation, and are presented with examples and prompts that encourage rich and textured use of language. Their practice sessions are recorded, and constructive and stimulating evaluative feedback is offered. Parents and children are then invited to create stories together on these topics, which are recorded and may be shared. Paradigmatic examples are provided, with commentary based on research-supported parenting interaction strategies. An Android application supports this process, providing audio-visual prompts and offering real-time feedback, in a mobile format.
