Maketea: Connecting couples through tea

Maketea is an ipad app and physical tea kit, which teaches couples Gongfu Cha – Chinese tea ceremony - and in the process, more about each other through a series of self-disclosure prompts. The practice of self-disclosure - the revelation of emotionally salient and personal information from one person to the other, predicts greater relationship satisfaction and marriage. In parallel, Gongfu Cha has a long history of setting the appropriate mood for supporting such kinds of emotional intimacy. During an at-home date, maketea turns the ritualistic and sensual aspects of the tea ceremony into opportunities for greater emotional intimacy.
