Tinker.Me: Hacking emotion awareness

Project by
Camila Pereira and Rhonda Rosales
Project Year
2016

Adolescence is a period of emotional changes. Some teenagers have trouble dealing with them resulting in disruptive behavior. These issues especially affect boys who, in our culture, are not encouraged to talk about their emotions. Tinker.me uses a project-based approach to make students aware of their emotional states, the impact those states have on them physically, and mindfulness methods of reducing that impact. Using an electronic toolkit—a microcontroller and set of sensors, including physiological sensors—students learn to measure the impact emotional states have on them and design and build their own emotional awareness device to demonstrate their learnings.
