"A more radical approach to women in science for the sake of progress, however, has also been taking place in both theoretical and practical terms. This perspective stresses the role of women qua women in science and focuses not solely on access, but on the transformation of science and the creation of scientific knowledge.
The ramifications of such an approach are many and include de-masculinizing science, challenging the biases of the medical establishment (and other science establishments) against women and demanding science created not only by women, but for women and for the issues that they deem to be relevant to their lives."

Dr. Wotipka is Assistant Professor of Education and (by courtesy) Sociology. She is the director of the master's programs in International Comparative Education/ International Educational Administration and Policy Analysis. Her scholarly interests include gender and higher education, citizenship education, and international human rights. Dr. Wotipka teaches the ICE/IEAPA MA program seminars; Education, Gender, and Development; and Gender and Higher Education. Her other teaching experience includes two years of service as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in rural northeast Thailand. She has also conducted research in the Republic of Korea and Morocco. |
