PBS NewsHour Education Correspondent John Merrow, and Stanford Graduate School of Education Professor Prudence Carter joined forces to discuss the West Coast premiere of John’s latest film, REBIRTH: New Orleans, as a springboard for a broad range of issues at the May 3, 2013 Cubberley Lecture at the Graduate School of Education. The film, based on 6 1/2 years of filming in post-Katrina New Orleans, reveals how a failing school system is reinventing itself.  As the film reveals, real change is possible, but not without consequences, unintended and otherwise.  In the following clip, Carter engages Merrow on the tough questions facing New Orleans and any district headed down the charter school path.
