The Procession at the main Stanford Ceremony (held in the Stanford Stadium) will begin at 9:30am. Faculty are to meet inside the Sunken Diamond patio area wearing academic attire no later than 9:00am (light refreshments will be available). The 2024 Stanford Commencement speaker is Melinda French Gates.
Faculty, please confirm your participation in Commencement Weekend 2024 by submitting the RSVP form linked below at your earliest convenience, and no later than Thursday, June 13.
Faculty should RSVP to ensure a spot on the GSE Diploma Ceremony stage. Academic attire is required.
Faculty attire for commencement is available for order online until Wednesday, May 1. You will be asked to provide information on your height, approximate weight, and head size for fitting of the cap and gown. Please also remember to check the box for Hood if you will need a hood for your robe. If your name does not appear in the drop down menu, you should scroll to New Faculty Member, and then you'll be able to input your information and select your appropriate sizes. If you need assistance or would like to purchase custom regalia, please contact the Jostens representative by phone at (530)-680-2965 or via email: Lauren.lathrop@jostens.com. Custom regalia must be ordered by the Friday, April 26.
Regalia orders can be picked up at the lower level of the Stanford Bookstore starting Thursday, June 6.
The GSE Diploma Ceremony will be held in Canfield Court, located between the Stanford Bookstore and CERAS.
Arrive early to get the best parking and ensure that you are not late to line-up. The closest parking lot will be the Wilbur Field Garage. If parking is difficult on Sunday, you may find parking in the Tresidder parking lot as well. For information on any available Marguerite Shuttle routes for that Sunday, click here.
Procession line-up is at 12:00pm. A Stanford GSE staff member will meet you with instructions for the procession and the ceremony.
Follow along in the commencement program and, if you have a graduating doctoral advisee, please make your way to the front of the stage by the time their name is announced. The graduating student will give you their hood and turn toward the audience so that you can hood them. Dean Schwartz will then hand them their diploma and they will exit the stage and return to their seat. Please return to your seat after you have hooded your advisee.
Please note: Doctoral students will be hooded by their advisor and master's students by their Program Director. Graduating students will be instructed ahead of time to unbutton their hood, carry it on their right arm, and squat down a bit when being hooded if necessary. If you are given a buttoned hood, please unbutton it before attempting to hood your advisee.
Warm hors d'oeuvres will be served immediately following the ceremony in the lawn area right next to Canfield Court (towards the Stanford Bookstore side).
