CERAS 527

Practitioners, policy makers, and researchers continue to advocate for increasing the number of male teachers of color. However, little attention is given to how districts or schools might support and develop male teachers of color. Data from the Boston Teacher Residency Male Educators of Color Network may serve as a model for differentiating professional development for male teachers of color. This session will be an interactive lecture exploring this challenge facing our nation's schools.

Travis J. Bristol  (STEP ‘ 04) is a research and policy fellow at the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE). He is a former teacher in New York City public schools and teacher educator with the Boston Teacher Residency program. Travis’s research interests focus on the intersection of race and gender in organizations.
