Current studies in education raise the need for preparing students for the 21st century demands. Students are expected to become "life-long learners" who have the necessary skills for success through their careers and lives. However, if teachers are incapable of implementing these skills, it will be difficult for them to instill these skills among their students. Therefore, the question of how to promote life-long learning skills among teachers is of critical importance. At the presentation, academic and daily uses of life-long learning skills will be introduced; short video clips will be presented focusing on demonstrating life-long learning skills of "successful people" in the academy or in the job market; and a scientific study that demonstrates an intervention program for enhancing and assessing life-long learning skills among pre-service teachers will be described and illustrated. 

Dr. Zehavit Kohen is a visiting scholar at the Center to Support Excellence in Teaching (CSET) in Stanford University. She received her Ph.D. degree summa cum laude from Bar Ilan University in Israel in 2011. She also holds a Bachelor degree in computer science and mathematics and M.A. summa cum laude in educational technology all from Bar Ilan University. In Israel, she works as a researcher at the Samuel Neaman Institute, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and as an adjunct lecturer at Bar-Ilan University. Her research interests encompass integrating educational technology into teaching and learning of mathematics, promoting meta-cognition in mathematics education and assessment of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) students' learning outcomes with a focus on quantitative analysis methods.
