Pam Grossman: Some Thoughts on Supporting Excellence in Teaching

Join us for Pam’s final talk as the Faculty Director of the Center to Support Excellence in Teaching (CSET) before she moves to the University of Pennsylvania to become the dean of the school of education. Pam will share her thoughts about what we know about supporting excellence in teaching and what we have left to learn.

Pam Grossman is the Nomellini Olivier Professor of Education and has been teaching and conducting research at Stanford for 14 years. A former English teacher, Grossman earned her doctorate from Stanford. Her research interests include teacher education and certification; English education, literacy and literature; and professional development. She helped found CSET and has been instrumental in bringing its vision of guaranteeing that all children will experience high-quality instruction. Her most recent work was launching the Hollyhock Fellowship program, which focuses on supporting and retaining early-career high school teachers in schools that serve low-income students.

Refreshments to follow.
