Dale Russakoff was a journalist for 28 years at the Washington Postand is a contributor to the New Yorker. From 2010 until 2014 she was embedded in the Newark, New Jersey effort to transform their public schools system that was launched with a $100 million dollar gift from Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, and championed by then Newark mayor, Cory Booker and New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie. Russakoff’s The Prize: Who’s in Charge of America’s Schools? was recently reviewed in The New York Times as “one of the most important books on education to come along in years”.
