The recent book Endangering Prosperity: A Global View of the American School argues that the achievement of U.S. student is seriously lagging behind that of most of the developed countries of the world. As economies become increasingly knowledge-based, the well being of the United States will be seriously affected by not improving our schools. Indeed, improving schools is the way out of the current fiscal problems of the United States. This talk presents the projections of the economic impact of U.S. achievement and provides the background analysis of the estimation and interpretation of the economic effects.
