The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the world’s regional economic miracles. Yet even while “Silicon Valley” is synonymous with innovation and economic prosperity worldwide, the region faces substantial challenges in sustaining its economic resilience and making opportunity widely available to all of those who live and work here.  Hundreds of colleges and universities are elemental to the regional knowledge ecosystem.  How can their vitality, and the civic fabric they sustain, best be nurtured going forward?
