Ilana Horwitz, Stanford GSE Doctoral Candidate in Sociology and Education, has graciously agreed to give her job talk, “The Abider-Avoider Achievement Gap: A Mixed Methods Study of Religion and Grades in U.S. Public Schools”, to the GSE community. Ilana will discuss how she used survey and interview data to examine the association between religiosity and GPA among a nationally representative sample of middle and high school students.
Following her talk, she will receive immediate feedback from Professors Tricia Bromley, Prashant Loyalka, and Jelena Obradovic. Following their feedback, audience members will get the chance to ask both the presenter and faculty members questions about the process, reasoning behind questions, and more.
The session is open to all GSE students and is a valuable opportunity to learn about what makes a great job talk. Lunch provided with RSVP on the EdCareers Database by Monday 5/21/18.
