Methodological Wanderings: Conceptualizing Multimodality as Chicanx/Latinx Everyday Praxis

The knowledge, language, and literacies of Chicanx/Latinx communities are co-created, shared, and exchanged across multiple modes, generations, and sociopolitical contexts. Drawing on Chicana feminist theories and methodologies, this presentation will highlight how these practices of meaning making are embodied and reflective of the material realities that exist for Chicanx/Latinx communities.

Dr. Gonzalez Ybarra is an assistant professor of Language & Literacy and Latina/o Studies  at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her schooling experiences, and those of her family, guided her to research the rich language, literacies, and knowledge of Chicanx/Latinx communities that often go unseen and/or erased in k-12 classrooms and beyond.
