The Chilean Stanford Students Association is organizing a meeting about the Chilean students' movement. The Chilean students' movement started last year and has called the attention of the international press due to the strength of the movement which is also spreading into other countries. In addition, Chile is one of the major and most successful experiments of Neo-liberal ideas which were imposed under the dictatorship of Pinochet in the 80's. This movement is challenging the idea of success of the Chilean economy mainly based in the strong and persistent levels of inequality that the country has reached. We are taking advantage that one of the most important leaders of the students' movement - Mr. Giorgio Jackson - is coming to the bay area and also that a well known scholar - Mr. Gregory Elacqua - will be here at the same time.
