UP@GSE Teach-In: Research, Guns and Schools

CERAS 204

The recent shooting in Parkland, Florida, has intensified calls to end gun violence in schools, from imposing stricter regulations on gun ownership to arming teachers with handguns. The contradictory and controversial nature of these appeals signal the need for education research, but research in this area faces significant political, ethical and methodological constraints.

Join Jennifer Wolf, Director of UP@GSE for a teach-in examining the role of education research on gun violence in schools. Together we will consider existing work on this issue, factors curtailing data collection, and viable directions for future research.
