Airports

Three major airports serve the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco International (SFO), San Jose Mineta International (SJC), and Oakland International (OAK). Stanford is roughly equidistant from the San Francisco and San Jose airports. We suggest comparing fares to all three airports, as there can be significant differences, even for the same airline. Although San Francisco is the largest of the three area airports and offers the most airlines and flights, some visitors find that San Jose’s smaller size sometimes makes it a somewhat more convenient alternative.

Hotels

There are many comfortable hotels near the Stanford campus. Please see the University’s Lodging Guide for a list of accommodations near campus. The webpage also notes those hotels that might offer discounts to Stanford guests.

Dining

iSTEP will provide dinner on the first night (Sunday), and a wrap-up lunch on the last day (Friday). For all other meals, there are a variety of dining options on- and off-campus. Stanford offers over 30 dining options on campus— many within close proximity to CERAS. Please see the Stanford Visitor website for information on dining options.

Getting around campus

All iSTEP events will be held at CERAS, and iSTEP will provide transportation to and from site visits to partner K-12 schools. However, if you plan to explore campus, consider using the Stanford Marguerite Shuttle, a free bus service that traverses campus Monday-Friday. Please see the Marguerite website for more information on routes.
