Advances in Early Math Education: Critical Issues in Policy and Practice

The Development and Research on Early Mathematics Education (DREME) Network in collaboration with the Stanford Center on Early Childhood are delighted to invite you to the Stanford campus on Friday, May 3 from 9am to 5pm, for Advances in Early Math Education: Critical Issues in Policy and Practice. This free one-day conference, funded by the Heising-Simons Foundation, will celebrate the progress made in the last decade in research and practice around early math teaching and learning.

Panels and exhibits will highlight effective strategies for promoting early math education at school and at home. State and district policymakers, teacher educators, and family support professionals will discuss policies and practices needed to ensure young children's equitable access to research-based opportunities to learn math. Conference participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to panelists and engage with the exhibits in a day of learning, collaboration, and connection.

Panel topics include:

  • Broadening and Deepening Math Learning in Classrooms
  • Supporting the Professionals Who Prepare and Support Teachers 
  • Supporting Districts to Improve the Quality and Coherence of Math Instruction P-3
  • Building Early Math into State Policies
