Prepare financially to start graduate school

For most of our students, starting graduate life at Stanford means relocating and adjusting to lifestyle as a graduate student. As soon as you accept your offer of admission, we encourage you to start preparing early for this major life change.

Regardless of how you are funding your program, you need to be ready to cover up-front, out-of-pocket expenses such as plane tickets, moving, etc. as access to financial aid funds will not be available until after you are enrolled (typically after mid-September).

We hope you take advantage of Stanford resources, such as Mind Over Money below, to help you plan financially.

You must have either Cardinal Care or coverage from another carrier to be enrolled at Stanford.

For detailed information about Cardinal Care enrollment and benefits: visit the Cardinal Care website or call (650) 723-2135. For general information about insurance and student health services: http://vaden.stanford.edu/
