Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the TB Test
You must submit proof of negative TB test by June 1, 2024. The test can be no older than 6 months prior to your start date at STEP.
What if I had a TB test done already?
The TB test must not have been administered any earlier than December 26, 2023. In other words, if you took the test before December 26, 2023, you must take the test again.
Where can I get a TB test?
The standard TB test can be given by your primary care physician. You must take the TB test in the United States.
How long does the test take?
This test requires two doctor visits. It is a skin test that will be given to you upon your initial appointment. You will then return in three days to have your skin examined by the doctor. Please factor this into your schedule.
NOTE: In addition to the TB test STEP requires you to submit, Vaden might ask you to submit a TB test for Entrance Health Requirements. If Vaden does ask you to submit a TB test, they will only take the blood test. For this reason, if you want to choose the option that will meet the requirement for both STEP and Vaden, the blood test is best.
What if the skin test is positive?
You will need to have a chest xray done by your doctor and have the written results.
