STEP teacher candidates also have the opportunity to learn how to integrate theatre into the elementary curriculum. Working with movement, voice, improvisation, and short scripts, they learn theatrical exercises based on math (a concentration exercise that involves addition), social studies (acting out a day in the life of a child of another century/culture), science (miming the phases of metamorphosis), and literature (developing and performing theatrical pieces based on poetry or fables).
