K through Career: Recommendations for a career-readiness program at KIPP Bay Area Schools

The mission of KIPP Bay Area Schools (KBAS) is to serve first-generation, low-income, and minority students in their pursuit of a college degree. Four years after graduating their first class, KBAS high schools have ensured that over 97% of their graduates matriculate to college. Since 2012, KBAS has implemented a career-readiness program called Future Focus, which develops career knowledge, professionalism, and real world experience to increase college matriculation, persistence, and graduation rates among students. Our project analyzes the content, implementation, and distribution of Future Focus to propose recommendations that will improve staff and student engagement with the program.
