Janice Jackson, a former deputy superintendent for the Boston Public Schools and a former assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education for the U.S. Department of Education, will join the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE) as its new executive director. She begins her new position on July 1.
Jackson's experience and expertise span research, policy, and practice and she shares the deep commitment to equity and opportunity that is at the heart of SCOPE. SCOPE's mission is to foster research, policy and practice to advance high quality, high equity education systems. will work closely with SCOPE co-directors Linda Darling-Hammond and Prudence Carter to support the center’s mission.
