Dr. Christine Min Wotipka, Associate Professor (Teaching) School of Education and (by courtesy) Sociology, has been honored with a Stanford Asian American Awards 2011 Faculty Award. The Stanford Asian American Awards ceremony is an annual event that brings together members of the Stanford community to recognize award recipients for their tremendous service, achievements and dedication. Dr. Wotipka was nominated by faculty colleagues and selected by members of the Asian American Activities Center Advisory Board composed of faculty, staff, student and alumni representatives.
Dr. Wotipka directs the Master’s Program in International Comparative Education and International Educational Administration and Policy Analysis. She teaches the ICE/IEAPA MA program seminars; Education, Gender, and Development; and Gender and Higher Education. In addition to her role as a faculty member, Dr. Wotipka serves as a Resident Fellow in the Education and Society Theme House where she teaches an undergraduate seminar. She is also a Fellow and Board member of the Clayman Institute for Gender Research.
Dr. Wotipka is being recognized for her extraordinary service as an educator, adviser, mentor and role model for both graduate and undergraduate students. A nominator describes her incredible energy and dedication: “Despite the demands of serving as a full-time director and instructor for the 12-month ICE/IEAPA MA Program, she maintains an active research program, studying education, international development, women’s issues, human rights and women in science. She is also an active member of the Clayman Institute community. As an RF, she is the prime mover for the outstanding success of Stanford’s newest academic theme dorm, Education and Society.”
Dr. Wotipka will be honored at the Stanford Asian American Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 12, 2011, 6:00 pm Reception, 7:00 – 9:00 pm Dinner and Program, Paul Brest Hall at Munger. For ticket information: http://a3c.stanford.edu.
